Google today announced that it earned $14.89 billion in consolidated revenue and $2.97 billion in net income in  Q3 . The search engine giant also shared some insights about its video sharing site YouTube. According to Google,  40% of YouTube’s traffic comes from mobile. This traffic was only 25% last year while its was mere 6% in 2011. At this rate it would not be wrong to say that by next year, 50% of all YouTube views will come from mobile. YouTube’s former employee Hunter Walk, tweeted today this insight about the video sharing platform. Its traffic is just another indicator of the shift in computing. People are replacing TV and desktop screens for mobile devices like smartphones and tablets. The 40% mobile traffic is attributed to its iOS and Android apps which have been constantly updated with new features and redesigns. Like photos, videos now are an extremely important part of the internet ecosystem. Earlier in August, YouTube introduced multitasking and updated Android UI. It also added D2F Marketing, live streams and channel subscription. Along with this, YouTube also added royalty free music libraries for videos in a bid to garner more users. Last month it announced that  offline viewing  feature will start rolling in November. Moreover, YouTube announced its plans to bring YouTube to TV screens in India via DTH providers.   Image Credits: snd  & atn Looking For A Social Media Agency?? – Contact WATConsult – India’s Leading Social Media Agency
