Line, the mobile messaging app is going beyond messaging and stickers and entering into videos. The Japanese instant messaging apps is enhancing the platform with video call support and a Vine like video sharing tool called Snap Movie . The 3.9.0 version of LINE been updated with video calls, which are available on all major platforms including the iPhone, Android devices and PCs. Users can switch between video and voice anytime during the call for more convenience and freedom. Users can simply select a friend from your contact list and tap video call for a chat just like Skype. The video sharing feature called Snap Movie lets a user record 4-10 second videos with their choice of background music and share it with their friends on the app. Users can post the video clips on their Home and Timeline, where they will be automatically played on a loop . The video clips that have been saved onto the users’ mobile devices can be uploaded on other social networking platforms as well. There will be 9 different background songs to choose from, and more music will be added soon to fit with a wide variety of situations and scenes. The Snap Movie feature has been released on iOS, and will soon be available for Android users. In addition to the video call and Snap Movie, Line has also updated the Albums feature that enables users to create photo albums that are shared between specific friends or groups. The update also increases the number of albums one can create to 100, with each album containing about 100 photos and photo and video sharing functions too have been seen an overall improvement. Finally, the latest update also improves the Timeline Home feature to allow privacy settings for individual posts and adds a function to delete users from the Blocked Users and Hidden Users lists. Launched in 2011, Line entered Indian markets this year in July and crossed 5 million users in just over a month. With a user base of over 200 million, Line competes with similar players like Whats App and WeChat . The messaging app seems to attract users by adding the video calling and Snap movie feature.
